06 Sept. 08- American Academy of Periodontology
Registration Opens for AAP Annual Meeting in Seattle
The program includes periodontal innovation presentations and general sessions covering topics such as implants, biofilms and risk assessment in treatment planning.
CHICAGO—May 5, 2008—This year Seattle will play host to the American Academy of Periodontology’s (AAP) 94th Annual Meeting to be held September 6–9. Registration is now open, and dental professionals from all specialties are encouraged to attend in order to learn about advancements in periodontology and earn up to 30 continuing education credits. Over 6,000 dental professionals and participating vendors are expected to be in attendance.
The theme of this year’s meeting, “Standing on the Shoulders of Giants,” honors the efforts of the individuals that have made significant contributions to the specialty of periodontology. The four-day event will kick off on September 6 with the Opening Ceremony featuring an address by 2008 AAP President, Dr. Susan Karabin. The next three days will include a variety of continuing education courses in seven distinct program tracks, clinical practice enhancement showcases, periodontal innovation sessions and four general sessions covering topics such as implants, biofilms and risk assessment in treatment planning.
Events of interest this year include a revamped Research Forum Poster Session sponsored by The Natural Dentist, which will highlight innovative research in the field of periodontology. Other meeting highlights include the popular Insurance Workshops, which instruct attendees how to submit appropriate procedure codes to dental benefit carriers, communicate with benefit carriers in adjudicating claims, and file claims with medical plans. This year’s exhibit hall, showcasing more than 150 dental products and services, will offer raffles, on-floor order placements and a complimentary attendee lunch on Monday, September 8.
“Last year’s Annual Meeting was a huge success with over 6,000 attendees, innovative and instructive educational sessions, and an exciting, interactive exhibit hall,” said Dr. Karabin. “We are looking forward to building on this success in Seattle this year. In addition to offering networking events with fellow colleagues and opportunities to learn about cutting-edge research and technology in periodontology, I hope this meeting also encourages continued communication among dental professionals about the importance of maintaining your patients’ periodontal health.”
Annual Meeting program information and online registration is available on the AAP Web site. See you in Seattle!
